The Nuclear Physics Laboratory (NPL) at the Department of Physics
of the University of Ioannina (Ioannina, Greece) was established in 1976 and has a long tradition of conducting quality research in
the field of experimental nuclear physics, attracting and training young scientists and educating students in elementary and advanced physics topics.
People
Faculty staff members,
postdoctoral fellows and PhD candidates, as well as a number of postgraduate and undergraduate students make up the NPL manpower.
Education
The NPL faculty members are engaged in teaching a variety of Physics courses.
In parallel, bachelor's diploma, master's and PhD theses are carried out under their supervision.
Facilities
Facilities at NPL include various detecting systems, electronic and laboratory equipment,
while a significant part of research is conducted at collaborating facilities worldwide.
Research
Research activities at NPL focus on experimental nuclear physics,
with particular emphasis on nuclear astrophysics, nuclear reactions, nuclear spectroscopy and nuclear physics applications.
Projects
NPL members are involved in a variety of research projects supported by National and European funding programmes.
Publications
The research efforts of NPL members result in a considerable number of publications in peer-reviewed
scientific journals.
